Jesus and the Unveiling of God's Glory Part 2 | Dr. Stephen Conley
from Raintree Community Church
Text: Mark 9:9-13 The Importance of the Resurrection (9:9-10) Jesus commands His disciples to silence until after the resurrection. True Gospel proclamation depends upon complete Gospel understanding. The resurrection is essential to the Christian faith and the Gospel. The Necessity of the Cross (9:11-13) Jesus underscores the necessity of fulfilling prophecy as the suffering servant who would die for the sins of His people Jesus is pointing to John the Baptist as the Elijah who would come first. John the Baptist was not only the forerunner to Jesus in preparation, but also in suffering and death. The Implications of the Transfiguration The glory of God was unveiled to the disciples to infuse them with hope. The path of Christ's suffering was unveiled to the disciples to give them a complete picture of the Gospel and their own discipleship path. We can embrace Christ's complete picture of the Gospel and His call of discipleship, knowing that glory awaits us (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).
