Jesus Glorified

we want to we want to get you guys out of here i know that we're packed in but we wanted to say a few thank yous before josh is going to share a short message tonight we've just been thinking about all of the hands that put this place together and so i would love to just start by saying if you served in any way or gave financially in any way to building this place would you stand and give yourselves a hand my gosh there's uh there's been so many sacrifices from all the leaders in this house the servant leaders in this house to make this possible and we're just so grateful um as pastors when we you know have you ever noticed every day where it's like are they ever going to take an offering you know how it's like after worship and it's like oh there's a black box in the back and then go talk to people and there's like very rarely that moment and i just want to acknowledge the radical over the top generosity of this community that since we began we we've never struggled financially and we've never had to make it something that we really have to take a 20 minute segment on offering and giving have you noticed that and it speaks of your generosity as a people and we should talk about money more we talked about this like maybe we should talk more about that just for the health of our hearts but not because we're in need because our community is so generous you haven't been just generous with with finances but you've been generous with your serving over the top radical servants and we're so grateful for that as leaders so thank you i want you to highlight who some of our contractors are come on helped us man you guys don't get to see these people that have been working so hard for the last six months to actually build this space to make it what it is and we feel like the lord has given us such a solid team to make this happen behind the scenes and so we just even for those that weren't able to be in the room we want to actually list their names so that you guys are able to celebrate with us yeah yeah when long before we even found the la fitness right long before we found the base i remember taking a retreat with the lord and the lord saying i'm going to be the broker i'm going to be the architect i'm going to be the builder i'm going to be the designer i'm going to be the one that does it and so um and then what he did was he gave us cameron peterson as our broker and his cam cam are you in the house cam and brooke no they couldn't make it i'm just kidding um cameron was long suffering with us for four years of us taking yeah anyways okay um cameron peterson then we had zeman construction who is the the construction company that actually built this out and we're so grateful for zeman man yeah you can give him a hand there's signs still in the front they're still working on the cafe we we actually did so much research uh as a board on how are we going to finance this project and there was multiple banks that just wouldn't even give us the time of day it was just i think all of them actually except for except for one and and so we are so grateful for blaze credit union that actually financed this project we've got some members we're like cliff you want to stand up we're grateful for blaze we couldn't do it without a bank and we're grateful for that um i thought it sounded really good tonight didn't you and that's because we had an incredible partner in octane octane is the one that did all of our audio some of the guys are in the back so grateful over the top we're so grateful and so um um if there's anybody that's a that is like a subcontractor that's been part of zeman's team that's in the room i have no idea if any of you showed up i don't i don't know what there's a is danco here lake ridge why don't you guys stand up they killed it there's there are painters danco have you noticed how many walls there are in this place and danco painted all of them we're so grateful for danco is that it that's all we have okay i want to honor our staff but i think we have most of our staff out of the room right now bless our staff and some of our deacons that are back helping with all of the 10 000 children that we brought today so even though our staff is not in the room we're going to give them a round of applause in just a second oh that was good that was perfect so eager i love that uh but who is in the room is our board if you are on our board of directors would you stand and then i would love for us to give them a standing ovation and our staff board why don't you stand come on don't be shy don't be shy here we go stand with us to honor our board let's honor our board let's honor them for all the hours we are so grateful for our staff our team and our board it's really the dream team and we are humbled humbled by all the sacrifices that have been made a couple others that i was forgetting about is um we had such an expansive team that were on this project a couple others there's a maybe you guys remember the pacific property and the lord orchestrated that we would get connected to the right people through the pacific property actually get us to the finish line here and we wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for a man by the name of michael margolese and michael has been such a gift to us i heard the board go yes we couldn't have done it without michael and we're so grateful for him we're so grateful for our architects tanik they've been fantastic and grateful for the city of roseville and we believe and believe that god is going to do big things in roseville and that there's actually going to be a flourishing as the the rose is kind of the logo for roseville we're believing that there's going to be a flourishing in roseville and so uh i want to i want to talk from john 13 this afternoon and i want to honor jesus by by talking about him within the context of the night before his betrayal or the night before the crucifixion the night of his betrayal let's pray lord we thank you for your word and lord we thank you that you are going to transform us by the renewing of our minds in this room lord we want to be a humble people that say not my will but your will be done and we want to be a people that when we read your word it shapes us we don't want to be over the word we want to come underneath the word of god and so we're grateful that you gave it to us and lord we sit under it in jesus name everybody said amen john 13 says this now before the feast of the passover when jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of the world to the father having loved his own who were in the world he loved them to the end i love that during supper when the devil just pause there are so many times where all throughout jesus ministry you remember those times where jesus is walking around the crowds are gathering around him everybody's so excited jesus is here and they're gathering and they're trying to push in on him and make him king and his disciples are like is now the time is now the time that you're gonna be glorified you're gonna bring the kingdom and he keeps on pushing them off and he even pushed off his mom at the very beginning she's like now's the time he's like it's not the time but i will take water and turn into wine but he's he's pushing them off and now in this moment he says it's my time it's my time to be glorified and i want us to watch what glorification looks like for jesus look at what he does it's now my time to be glorified and right before you know there's some commentary on this i love that he says that it said about him he loved his disciples to the end he loved them to the end all right verse two during supper when the devil had already put it in the heart of judas to betray him jesus knowing that the father had given him all things and that he had come from god and was going back to god rose from supper he laid aside his outer garment taking a towel and he tied it around his waist he put i just he's like meticulously he's like okay i just imagine what the disciples are thinking as jesus he removes his outer garment takes a towel on his waist he's pouring this is this is not something that just automatically it takes time they're just watching him he pours water into a basin and he starts approaching them as a servant washing their feet and i want us to skip forward and i'm just gonna give a little bit of commentary and then we're we're gonna commission out but i want you to skip forward over to john 13 34 because what happens in between the verse that we just read and 34 is that jesus washed washes his betrayer's feet and then he offers judas a parcel of bread and it says when he gave him the communion when he gave him that passover bread that satan entered judas his betrayer satan entered one of jesus friends and as judas leaves the room i want us to zero in on what jesus says to his disciples because this is the moment where betrayals not just gonna happen for judas but it's also gonna happen for all of his friends and jesus is wanting to hit us in between the eyes today with what he said to his disciples on the glory of the day of his glorification and this is what he said a new commandment i give to you that you love this verse 34 a new commandment i give to you that you love one another just as i have loved you you also are to love one another by this all people will know that you are my followers that you are my disciples that you are my sons and daughters if you love one another and the lord is calling us as a people to actually make the main thing the main thing and it's the first and second commandment and we're not going to come off of it as a people we are committed to actually following the footsteps of jesus because the footsteps of jesus in his moment of glorification in the moment of the glory resting on the son of man and him going now is my time are you catching that he actually goes low and becomes a servant of all and that's a word for us as a people that god as he's as his glory rests on us in this room and i'm believing for the glory of god i believe that it's going to push us and it's going to push us to get lower and lower and lower and lower then we're going to get more servant-hearted more weak more humble and more lowly and then we're going to find ourselves at the feet of the city we're going to find ourselves with the lowly we're going to find ourselves with the poor we're going to find ourselves with the orphan and the widowed the single moms of our city it's going to be the thing that defines us and then what we're going to do is we're going to be look at what jesus says in that 34 it says love one another and how do you do that just as i have loved you man that's weird we got to get we got to get that first and the lord's been working that in us as a people and as a community year after year month after month and we're just on the edge we're just at the beginning and it's a lot a lifelong call of knowing the love of god listen nobody can receive his love for you nobody can receive the love of god for you you're the only one that can receive it for yourself and you're the only one that can give your love to him nobody else can give your love to the lord and the lord is going i you have to sit with me early in the morning you have to receive his love and it doesn't just it doesn't start in this room you know this room is going to serve you as a prayer room and you're going to encounter the love of god together and as individuals in this room but it's going to happen in the car it's going to happen in your house it's going to happen in the kitchen it's going to happen in the shower it's going to happen in your bed that you're going to receive the love of god and god is calling us to be love junkies because our only way forward is knowing his love because how's the world gonna know how we're different they're gonna know how we're different because we love each other but if we don't receive his love we're not gonna be able to love each other and we're gonna be spinning our wheels trying really hard gritting our teeth squeezing our knuckles and it's it's not gonna work it's gonna feel like striving but the lord's centering us on becoming like jesus and he knew at the very beginning of his ministry he looked up and what did he receive the father's delight the father's love this is my son who i'm well pleased with do you know the pleasure of god do you know the delight of god over you have you ever wept when you were just him and you because you felt his love all around when you read the word and you went you got hit with his love and it it messed with you and it ruined you if you haven't tasted and seen the love of god that wrecks you there's so much ahead this is really exciting because maybe you've known religion maybe you've been all intellectual about it but the lord's going oh my goodness i'm coming for you my love is on your heels some of you some of you kind of know about god but you don't know god you don't even know why you're in the room and it's but the lord knows why you're in the room because he's on your heels because he's been after you since you were a little kid and he's been loving you and you've been so unaware of it and he's been showering you with love and you couldn't receive it because you start the window is open the door is opening up and your eyes are opening up you're going you mean god loves me and the lord is going to break your brain he's going to mess with you and he's going to ruin you with your love and you've been going to all the wrong places you've been trying to get love and pull up and take out like hooks and you've been fishing for love but the lord's after your heart and you're going to know his love and it will change you and as a people god is calling us into the depths of the love of god so that we can become love your destiny is to love and become love and be loved and and this is the call of this house it's to love him to be loved by him and to love the people around us to love the city because god's calling us as mary's on mission they'll take off our aprons and sit at the feet of jesus god's calling us as those that would be ambassadors that represent him but the only way that we're going to represent him to the world is not by inviting people to church services now that we have a bigger building we're probably moving to services next week this doesn't work the next step is inviting people that don't know jesus into this room because you are the expression look at listen you are the image of god on the earth you're the body of christ you are the people of god you can sow seeds of the kingdom not the seeds of church services invite them over to your house you are the embodiment of jesus you are to be transformed listen jesus is so strategic he's going you know what i'm gonna do i'm gonna actually make them temples of the holy spirit and i'm gonna have them be clothed with my power so that they're gonna be transformed into my likeness and then they are going to have feet i'm gonna give them feet and in the 1900s i'm gonna give them wheels and cars and i'm gonna give them keyboards and whatever i don't know screens i'm gonna i'm gonna anoint the wright brothers to build airplanes i'm gonna just and and they're gonna go everywhere buildings stay in one place but the people of god are everywhere the people of god are on the streets the people of god are in the neighborhood the people of god go to work the people of god go to school the people of god show up to parks and restaurants because they like good food and minneapolis has a foodie scene that's awesome and it's too expensive they never give you enough food okay really got heated on that one i was like it's like oh okay didn't know that was in there it's the about in together jesus knows who he is knows where he's going knows whose he is he knows his identity and because he knew his identity that he got from the father in heaven he could go low and wash feet in love it's the end it's the knowing who we are loving him is the priority it's the up no one can love him for you no one can receive his love for you and then it's going to be us going together and it's us loving one another well because our city will know him and know that we follow him by our love for each other you were never meant to be a spectator in the kingdom of heaven you weren't meant to be in the nosebleeds of the kingdom i went to a t wolves game and it was amazing and we got we lost i shouldn't talk about that but how about our wolves huh let's go yeah turn on the music help us come on thank you you were never meant to be in the nosebleeds some of you are still in the trees of our city you're you're caught in the tree trying to get a glimpse of jesus and and the people of god have gotten in your way because there's been there's been pain in people that know jesus but then they've been hypocritical and you've tried to get a vision of jesus it hasn't made sense because you look at the hypocrisy of the church and but then you hear something different about the love of god and you're confused and jesus is looking at you as you're trying to get a view and the lord's going hey you're hungry i know you're hungry for truth some of you are in the room and the lord's going i see that you just want the truth and the lord wants you to know tonight that he sees you and he sees your desire to know truth he sees your desire to know god if there's a god out there and i believe god's giving you this is just like a break from the message this is not what i plan to say but it's just for you that's you i want you to know that you can pray over and over again god if you're real show yourself to me and the lord's gonna answer it you don't have to be good at praying you don't have to pray religiously just start praying that lift your eyes close your eyes to heaven and whenever you think about god just go god if you're real would you show yourself to me and he's gonna answer it it doesn't have to be complicated it doesn't have to be you don't have to figure it all out he's gonna blow your mind it's gonna be good we're all meant to know him we're all meant to make him known to represent him we are people of grit even without the mauve carpet the shiny building doesn't make us soft we're people with mustard seed faith we've seen that the lion and the bear and goliath they fall and we've got seeds in our hands and peace on our feet we've met the wounded healer and we're ones that will serve radically and carry adoptive love it's off the bench and into the game where everyday reverence and marries on mission off the cruise ship and into the fields you are the chosen saints for the work your destiny is to go out sowing seeds and come back having to reap with joy in your heart this is who you are every day the answer isn't more churches and more buildings the hope of our city is you living knowing him living with him loving him loving your brother loving your sister being a people that is defined by his love i want to commission you out would you stand let's put our arms let's put our hands on somebody next to us the lord's building us together as a people make it quick thank you jesus this is the first time and the last time that our whole community will be in this room let's look it up for two more minutes lord we're so grateful we're so grateful lord who are we that you're mindful of us and yet you've chosen to dwell inside and grace us with your presence we love you and we want this room this building our children and our parents and our grandparents and our families and our city to know you so lord take this room and turn it into a slingshot into the fields make this room a launch pad into the fields of our city the harvest is plentiful the workers are few would you send out these laborers lord lord make the laborers plentiful in the city bring in a great harvest we want you to be made famous you are the worthy one you're worthy of more souls more lovers in jesus name you
