Jesus, Herod and Pilate
from The United Methodist Church at Absecon
After having a Passover meal, being betrayed by one of his disciples and being arrested while praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus was found guilty. But the Jewish leaders couldn't sentence a man to death at Passover. They sent him to Pilate, but Pilate didn't want to kill him. Trying to avoid responsibility for innocent blood, Pilate sent him to Herod. Herod didn't want his innocent blood on his hands either, so he sent him back to Pilate. Jesus' innocent, perfect blood was making brutal men become righteous, and righteous men become brutal.
