Jesus is... — 4.7.19 Sermon

The day after feeding the five thousand, crowds track Jesus across the lake. Working through John 6, this message probes their motives: many wanted a meal ticket, a Jesus who kept them comfortable as long as following him stayed convenient. The core challenge turns the mirror on us. We can settle for a Christianity with no buy-in, content with Jesus as Savior while resisting him as Lord, collecting the lousy t-shirt instead of the adventure. Jesus' words are often offensive precisely because they call us out of the comfort zone. Then comes the claim: I am the bread of life . Compared to manna and elevated above Moses, Jesus offers not physical provision but transformed hearts and eternal life. The invitation, extended to everyone, is to believe not just in Jesus but what Jesus says.
