Jesus Is _______ (Pt. 1) - Your Friend

It’s hard to get to know someone on a real level. In a world where people are more connected than ever before, getting a picture of who someone really is is harder than ever before. In our series, Jesus Is ________, we are going to look at three attributes of Jesus that will help us discover who Jesus really is. When we understand who Jesus really is, we’ll be able to see how he feels about us and what he desires for us.   Tonight we kick off our series by looking at how Jesus is our friend. An interesting thing about Jesus is that he was continually criticized for being a friend of sinners. While the Pharisees saw that as something bad, we must see it as something good. Why? Because that means that Jesus befriends me. We will discover this truth by looking at three interactions that Jesus has with different sinners and see how we are found in each of those sinners. By understanding that Jesus is our friend, we’ll see that Jesus moves toward people who have sin in their lives and loves them anyway. This is who Jesus really is… a friend of sinners.
