Jesus is Either "The Way" or "In the Way" // 1 Peter 2:4-12

FOR YOU, JESUS ‘IS THE WAY’. 1 Peter 2:4-6 ESV [4] As you come to him (salvation, sanctification, glorification), a living stone (resurrected) rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious(by God’s standard), [5] you yourselves like living stones (eternal life) are being built up(privilege vs. duty)as a spiritual house (the church), to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. [6] For it stands in Scripture: "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone (sets all the measurements and angles) chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame." (MT 7:24-27) FOR OTHERS, JESUS IS ‘IN THE WAY’. 1 Peter 2:7-8,10 ESV [7] So the honor is for you who believe (lean on a crutch), but for those who do not believe (lean on anything other than Christ), "The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone," [8] and "A stone of stumbling,(in the way)and a rock of offense." They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do(destined to judgement because of unbelief). [10] Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy (not getting what you deserve). SO SHOW THOSE THAT THINK JESUS IS ‘IN THE WAY’, THAT JESUS ‘IS THE WAY’. 1 Peter 2:9-12 ESV [9] But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood (serve the King by access to His presence), a holy nation, a people for his own possession (peculiar), that you may proclaim (advertise) the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. [10] Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. [11] Beloved, I urge you as sojourners (aliens) and exiles (not citizens) to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. [12] Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers (they have to make right wrong), they may see your good deeds (even if they disagree)and (indirectly) glorify God on the day of (their) visitation (by God). FOR YOU, JESUS ‘IS THE WAY’. FOR OTHERS, JESUS IS ‘IN THE WAY’. SO SHOW THOSE THAT THINK JESUS IS ‘IN THE WAY’, THAT JESUS ‘IS THE WAY’.
