Squires, Jr. — October 4, 2026 Jesus Loves Me Philippians 2:6-9 (NIV) Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name. John 3:16 (NKJV) For God so loved (agape) the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Overuse or misuse of the word "love" makes the word powerless. Agape love is less affection and more action. Before Jesus was a servant, He was the second member of the Trinity (Philippians 2:6). Jesus Christ let go of Heaven. What is Jesus asking you to let go of? (Philippians 2:6) Jesus Christ took on the form of a servant. How is Jesus asking you to serve? (Philippians 2:7) Jesus Christ died a criminal's death on a cross. What is Jesus ready to forgive? (Philippians 2:8) Deuteronomy 10:15 (NLT) Yet the Lord chose your ancestors as the objects of his love. And he chose you, their descendants, above all other nations, as is evident today. The word love (hasaq in Hebrew) is a tethered love, a love that is attached to something or someone. Jesus' love will not let go of you; He chained or handcuffed Himself to you! Jesus' love offered to you means there is nothing you can do to make Christ love you more or love you less.
