Jesus prays for unity

from Drawn by the Thread · host inthewhisper

Unity Overview In this episode, we turn to John 17, where Jesus prays for unity on the night before His arrest. After the Last Supper, with the cross just hours away, Jesus doesn’t pray for escape, comfort, or strength; He prays that His followers would be one. That alone tells us how central unity is to the heart of Christ. Our oneness is meant to point the world to Him. We also explore Ephesians 2:14–16, where Paul reminds us that Jesus Himself is our peace, He is the One who breaks down dividing walls and reconciles us to God and to one another through the cross.  Then we get to Acts 4, where we see unity lived out in the early church. We see the answer to Jesus' prayer from John 17. In a broken and divided culture, unity is one of the clearest reflections of Jesus we can offer. It sets us apart from the world, not by isolation, but by love, humility, and shared purpose. When believers walk in unity, the Gospel isn't just heard, it's the action the world needs to see.
