Jesus Regarding Unity - John 17:23
from Chris Stuart - Tyndale’s Plowboy Hosted by cstpb
The central message of this sermon is that unity among believers is a crucial aspect of their faith and a key indicator of their relationship with God. Jesus' prayer in John 17, that his followers would be one as he and the Father are one, is not just a nostalgic ideal but a imperative for modern-day Christians to strive for. The sermon distinguishes between unity, which involves preserving differences and working together towards a common purpose, and uniformity, which seeks to eradicate individuality and distinctiveness. This concept advances the belief that true Christianity values diversity and promotes a shared sense of community and cooperation among its followers. Ultimately, the takeaway is that believers have the responsibility to answer Jesus' prayer by actively seeking and promoting unity within their communities, rather than merely tolerating or ignoring differences.
