Those eighteen words are going to be the focal point of the rest of our time together, because those eighteen words are to be the marks of a true Christian. Not a more devout Christian, not a, level 2 Christian, not a veteran Christian, just for a Christian. I want you to see here, that contrary to the American idea of privatized, compartmentalized religion, Jesus doesn’t leave a category open for the I’m a pew-warmer got work to do all week and I still put my 2 cents in the offering plate, and I got blessed assurance so I’m saved and I’ll leave the more rigorous Christian stuff to those who just naturally like more church stuff then I do. No instead, Jesus says to all people who would come after Him, claim to be a Christian, if you’re stepping in the door as a way of saying, “I’m on team Jesus,” then this is for you.
