The first sermon in a series on the Gospel of John.John wrote his gospel so that people would know and believe that Jesus is the Son of God.John 20:30-31 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.He begins his writing by stating that Jesus is the Word of God, that He was with God in the beginning, and that He is, and always has been, God.John 1:1–5 (ESV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.  In him was life, and the life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
