Jesus Understands Panic Attacks

from Quiet In The Night · host Bill Scott

Jesus Understands Panic Attacks When panic takes over, it can feel like you're drowning in a sea of fear—heart racing, breath shallow, the world spinning. In those moments, you may feel alone, but you're not. Jesus understands. In the Garden of Gethsemane, just before the cross, Jesus experienced deep anguish. The Bible says, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death" (Matthew 26:38, NIV). He fell to the ground and prayed with such intensity that His sweat was like drops of blood (Luke 22:44). That wasn't just physical exhaustion—it was emotional and spiritual agony. Jesus gets it. He knows what it feels like to be overwhelmed, to cry out in desperation, and to long for comfort. He doesn't shame your anxiety—He meets you in it. So when panic rises, whisper His name. He's not disappointed in you. He's not walking away. He's sitting with you in the darkness, holding your heart with tender care. "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7, NIV). You are safe in His presence. You can breathe again. He's here, and He understands.
