En enero de 1971 sale a la venta su cuarto álbum, con el título de Aqualung, que será la obra maestra de la banda. Dicho álbum llega en seguida al número uno de las listas de casi todo el mundo, permaneciendo en algunas durante casi un año. Podemos considerar a Aqualung como la primera obra concepto de la banda. Es un trabajo sencillamente for midable en su aspecto artístico y musical, y por supuesto, uno de los mejores en cuanto a elaboración se refiere.
