Jewish High Holidays begin at sundown
from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand
The Jewish High Holidays begin at sundown with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. They'll culminate with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, starting Sept. 20. A company that provides safety advice to Jewish groups has been offering in-person and online training on how to respond to active threats. Secure Community Network says its work has become more complicated as antisemitic threats come from a wider variety of domestic and foreign sources — ranging from proxies of Iran to white supremacists in this country. Violent attacks targeting American Jews this year include the assault at a Manhattan synagogue last month, a truck-ramming at a temple in Michigan in March, and an arson attack on a synagogue in Jackson, Mississippi, in January.
