This belongingness gives IDENTITY. Whom do you belong to? Any belongingness within this world would be very temporary as this present life is temporary. Only our relationship with God is permanent and eternal. That should be the source of identity and joy. St. Clement of Alexandria (150-215) was a pagan philosopher. He came across Christian doctrines and became a believer. He was a student at the Catechetical School of Alexandria and later became the head of it. He used his philosophical background to make the Faith intelligible to the intellectuals. He was exiled to Cappadocia and died there. This experience must have had a very lasting impact on this great Father of the Church. Therefore he said, "यदि आप ईश्वरीय परिवार के एक सदस्य बनते हैं, तो स्वर्ग आपका स्वदेश है और ईश्वर आपके कानून बनाने वाला।" "If you enroll as one of God's people, then heaven is your country and God your lawgiver." He found his identity in God and heaven. He expressed what he lived. What is your view? Are you able to accept the view of St. Clement? You know this is nothing new. It is very much biblical! St. Paul, writing to the Philippians (3:20), says, "हमारा स्वदेश तो स्वर्ग है और हम स्वर्ग से आने वाले मुक्तिदाता प्रभु ईसा मसीह की राह देखते रहते हैं।' (फ़िलिप्पियों 3:20) "But our citizenship is in heaven, and it is from there that we are expecting a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ." Both these great teachers are challenging us today to really question our convictions about the revealed Faith. Accepting and living according to their teaching must give us a sense of serenity and peace. Most of the problems we face every day are caused because of IDENTICAL Crisis. Self-identity is the source of action. It is a decisive factor. Are you willing to take the risk of believing in what these Saints are telling?
