Welcome home friend, to a very special edition of Sober Shares. Over the next four episodes you will hear a set of AA talks given by my late sponsor Jimmy Daniel’s. This type of AA talk is commonly referred to as “DOING THE STEPS”.Jimmy got sober on June 10th, 1982 and went on to help thousands of alcoholics get and stay sober. I asked Jimmy to be my AA sponsor during my 5th year of sobriety. I was sponsoring myself at the time and having a hard time with life. I knew I needed help and was actively going to recovery meetings to try and find it. I heard Jimmy speak one night at the Unity Church of Dallas. That night changed the course of my life in and out of the rooms of AA. He reached down into my soul that night and shook me awake with his honesty about who he was, where he came from and maybe more importantly where he was going. I approached him in the parking lot after the meeting as he was walking to his car and asked him to be my AA sponsor. He said yes and we began our journey together that night. The first and only question he asked me that night was, “Michael, how is your prayer life”?Over the next several years he lead me closer and closer to my High Power and it was glorious.Jimmy is my guy, he was everybody’s guy. His life story is an epic journey from the bottom of life to the glorious victory of a deep and heavy spiritual awakening that he ached to share with others.This series of talks was recorded in 2005 and can be heard on the Sober Shares Podcast in episodes 29, 30, 31, and 32.
