Jimmy Kimmel’s Late-Night Future in Question | Durham News

Jimmy Kimmel may be calling it quits after 24 years on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, with reports suggesting his final episode could air in May 2027. The show, a long-running staple since 2003, faced controversy last year when Kimmel’s comments about a political figure’s death led to a temporary suspension — though it returned quickly after Disney and the network issued statements about timing and appropriateness. While some see his potential exit as a well-earned break — even his wife supports stepping away — others feel his late-night platform remains vital for sparking conversation. As whispers grow of new projects, including podcasts and other shows, the spotlight turns to what comes next for a host who’s reshaped late-night TV — and whether he’s truly ready to hang up his hat or just preparing for his next act.
