讓重病的父母知道他可能時日不多，是要讓他能趕快珍惜已有的可貴歲月，也趕快去做一些想做、值得做而沒有做的事，這才是告知的目的。如果父母無法面對這個問題，那就不要說破，我們主動安排來滿足他們的心願。比如問父母，有什麼事、什麼人，是他們想念、掛念的，然後做子女的就直接安排、處理，讓父母有機會去看、去說，有機會去處理、去面對，但就是不談那件事，這樣目的就達到了！目的有達到，但是那件事情就是「盡在不言中｣。
