I lead an ongoing gathering “Healing Through Connection” in person and zoom held the last Wednesday of every month This interactive experience is a place to explore how mindful connection can support emotional and spiritual healing. Together we slow down, listen. And practice simple tools that help us meet ourselves and each other with compassion. She believes the most powerful and radical things we can do is to come together to create community and to care for ourselves we remind each other that we are not alone. Jina Carvalho guides individuals and organizations through personal and professional challenges while building supportive community. Jina’s unique approach blends healing technologies with practical creative life tools empowering individuals and organizations to break through limitations, rediscover happiness, and create meaningful change. Jina has been in the field of mental health and trauma recovery for over 40 years. She is a performance artist, author, and poet. Her publications include a poetry memoir entitled “The Weight of Desire” and recently in the poetry anthology “Women in a Golden State”. In recognition of her community service, she was awarded the “Santa Barbara Independent, Hero of the Year Award” for her trauma response work in the Santa Barbara community. www.jinacarvalho.com Jina Carvalho holds a BA in Psychology and the performing Arts and is Director of Communication for the Glendon Association and PsychAlive.org. Their mission is to save lives and enhance mental health by addressing the public health issues of suicide and violence and disturbed family relations. They fulfill that mission through research, education and training in mental health field and to the general public www.glendon.org and www.psychalive.org Ms. Carvalho was a founder of the Santa Barbara Response Network (SBRN), a grassroots volunteer organization dedicated to offering Psychological First Aid (PFA) and support for resilient recovery from traumatic incidents including disasters, suicide and violent injuries, especially among underserved populations and youth. For over ten years, Jina has personally responded to hundreds of traumatic incidents, also trained thousands of community volunteers. She coordinated trauma support efforts to dozens of traumatic incidents in the Santa Barbara community including the Isla Vista mass shootings, the wildfires, the Montecito debris flow, Conception boat fire, Han family murders and violent incidents and suicides in schools and throughout the community. In recognition of her service, she was awarded the “Santa Barbara Independent, Hero of the Year Award” for her trauma response work in the Santa Barbara community. As a skilled creativity coach and motivational speaker, Jina guides individuals through creative blocks and professional challenges while building supportive community.
