Jiří Strachota je odborníkem na energetiku, který v roce 1970 promoval na Matfyzu, pracoval na experimentech na urychlovačích v Dubně, Serpuchově a CERNu. V roce 1985 se stal technickým koordinátorem Československých fyziků pro mezinárodní experiment na urychlovači v Hamburku. Roku 1994 přešel do průmyslu, kde v ČEZu vedl projektový tým emisního monitoringu. V rozhovoru s Markétou Šichtařovou zmapoval současný stav energetiky v České republice a celé Evropské unii.
