Vůdce bolševické revoluce zde pobýval dvakrát, v letech 1900 a 1912. Důležitá byla zejména jeho druhá návštěva, v tehdejším i dnešním sídle sociálních demokratů, Lidovém domě, totiž zorganizoval bolševickou konferenci. Právě na ní se komunisti dohodli kudy dál. Praha tak sehrála v dalším směřování komunistického hnutí větší roli, než si v současnosti uvědomujeme. Leninismus, který vedl k milionům obětí, se navíc v poslední době do Prahy nebezpečně vrací.
