Joanna Wietrzyk’s Unstoppable Hyrox Win | Durham News

Joanna Wietrzyk, 24, stunned the Hyrox world by winning despite a shocking mid-race accident—photos of her pushing through pain went viral. Her coach, Chris Bayens, urged fans to stop the hate, calling it an unpredictable, high-stress moment where everyone made split-second decisions. Joanna herself posted “a win is a win” before deleting it, later sharing a hospital selfie hinting at the severity. She clocked 1:01:23—a jaw-dropping feat. Co-founder Mo Fuerste apologized, admitting Hyrox failed to intervene sooner and pledged rule changes. The event clarified that elite competition protocols clashed with mass-participation guidelines—and they’re now tightening procedures to prevent future tragedies.
