Joan's picks: Love, Pamela and River, Sing me Home
from The Sunday Session with Francesca Rudkin · host Newstalk ZB
Love, Pamela by Pamela Anderson. Her story in her own words, which paints a very different picture to the blonde bombshell image that most of us have about her. She comes across as extremely well read and well informed; smart; a devoted mother (as she says, her kids are miracles which is remarkable considering the gene pool) and someone clearly with a lot of talent – she starred on Broadway in Chicago – and is an internationally renowned animal activist. I found it fascinating. River, Sing me Home by Eleanor Shearer. Fiction – set in the Caribbean in the 1930’s around the time of the abolition of slavery, about a woman’s journey to reunite with her five children, all of whom were removed from her and sold into slavery. The author is a descendent of the Windrush generation and has roots back in the Caribbean. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
