In this video listen to Job 10 read by David Alley, followed by comments and prayer.In Job 10 the fifth speech of the book continues… and Job finally asks the Lord for understanding, which he will not receive (and only in part) until the end of the book.But God has reasons beyond his understanding as we who have the narrator’s perspective can see. Here is a question though…. Why would God allow the evil one to succeed in his accusation? Why would God permit the pain?Consider this, what value and comfort has the story of Job provided to generations of people for thousands of years? Imagine if God had not allowed Job to suffer and the story to unfold? Think of the countless good that has come from this story and its inclusion in the canon? How could God have explained that to Job at the time? Yet, by participating in this, and being unwilling to blame God, and being willing to accept that he didn’t understand God's reasoning, we are given an example to follow. We see that our own experiences match his in some ways, and that God being sovereign allows things for the long-term greater good.
