Jobbing Out - August 17, 2017 (Steve Migs picks Summerslam, plus Ron Snyder talks indy wrestling)

from Jobbing Out · host JobbingOut

It's that time once again! 9 hours of wrestling coming up over two days, so while all three are in studio, they have to bring in the one-and-only Steve Migs to help make sense of it all. First, they talk about Baron Corbin's attempted cash-in, and why on earth he didn't win. Is he in trouble? Is there a plan? Just...why? Then they move on to picking NXT Takeover Brooklyn III. Only one match is unanimous as the guys make their cases for their picks, and try to avoid a pizza bath. In Segment 2 (37:30) the guys pivot to the 13-match Summerslam card. There's a little more consensus early on, but once they get to the title matches, nothing can be agreed upon. Will Carmella cash-in at Summerslam? Why isn't Nia Jax in the title match? How long is the Shield reunion going to last? And is there anybody that you can rule out of winning the Universal title in Brooklyn? In Segment 3 (1:19:00) Migs departs, but Glenn, Aaron and AJ are joined by Ron Snyder, author of the book "Wrestling's New Golden Age". Snyder wrote about the rise of the independent scene over the past few years, and the guys ask him about what he thinks the future of the independent scene is. What's the biggest key behind this golden age? Could one of the indies rise up and become the clear-cut #2 behind WWE? Do they need a TV deal to do that? Finally, they wrap up by discussing Ric Flair, and wish him well.
