Joe Yoder of Tiny Solar Vermont on Setting Up Your Personal Solar Energy Station Part 2

from Get Your FILL, Financial Independence and Long Life · host Christine Mccarron

Joe Yoder of #TinySolarVermont helps us prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse and any other impending disasters by going off-the-grid with our own personal solar system for less than you ever imagined. This is Part 2 of our conversation. Listen to Part 1. Since 2014 Tiny Solar Vermont's  Mission:  To design and sell very small, very affordable solar electric systems and related materials Watch the Video About Joe: In 2011, after Tropical Storm Irene left many Vermonters scrambling for generators (or worse yet, their car engines!), I moved forward with my Idea to create a company that would sell very small, very affordable solar electric systems and related materials. We officially launched in 2014. Typically we’ve sold TSV systems to people with tiny houses, yurts, camps, or simply a need for reliable back-up power. We encourage and support DIY solar power. Yes, It can be safe and reliable, and cheap! I built my first DIY system, with some assistance, in Danville VT in 1990, and have dabbled in it ever since. In 2009/2010 I completed three courses in Photovoltaic Design & Installation at altE University in Hudson Mass. I then passed the NABCEP Photovoltaic Entry Level Exam. In our current house in Montpelier, VT, we’ve had DIY battery-based solar since 2006. We find that it makes a great back-up for the grid, and vice versa. When the grid gets knocked out, we still have power! (And so do our chickens; they have their own TinySolar System).
