Joey Cantillo’s Struggles Threaten Guardians | Cleveland Guardians News

Joey Cantillo’s shaky start doomed the Guardians’ playoff push, as he walked five and hit two in a disastrous two-inning outing against the Orioles, handing them a 6-4 loss. Struggling with control lately, Cantillo admits he needs to throw more strikes and challenge hitters early — or risk loading the bases. With the team clinging to a postseason spot, his performance put them at a disadvantage from the start. Though durable and vital to the rotation, Cantillo knows the pressure is on to deliver his best self. He remains confident he can fix it — but the Guardians can’t afford many more games like this as they race toward October.
