John Barrett (Bass Drum Of Death)

from Performance Anxiety · host Marc Shea

I was lucky enough to have John Barrett of Bass Drum Of Death join me. He talks about growing up in Oxford, Mississippi and how Ole Miss sports can be very frustrating. After moving into a house in Oxford that ended up being home to several bands and a recording studio for his first two albums, he moved to New York City. That really had an impact on his songwriting, one that some of his fans weren’t so happy about. John also had a great way to vet the production team on his last full length album. But when COVID started to shut things down, John moved back to Mississippi and started a twitter beef with Eve 6 that didn’t end how anyone expected it to end. But beyond Twitter beefs, John’s also been busy working on a new Bass Drum Of Death album. He’s hoping to have it ready to go before too long. So follow him on social media @BASSDRUMOFDEATH or just go to bassdrumofdeath.com to get updates or buy the band’s albums. Follow us @PerformanceAnx.
