John Brebbia on pitching in MLB and Bill Murray "Caddyshack" moment

The Massachusetts native grew up just outside Boston and realized at an early age baseball was his sport.  He played 3 years at Sharon High School, before moving to Florida his senior season.  Pitching for Wellington High School in Florida, Brebbia was 10-1 with a 0.83 ERA and an 18 strikeout game.  Those numbers caught the attention of college coaches including Mike Kennedy at Elon University in North Carolina where Brebbia would pitch from 2009-2011.  During the summers of 2010 and 2011, Brebbia would also return to Massachusetts to play in the historic Cape Cod League.  In 2011, the New York Yankees drafted Brebbia which was an ironic twist of fate for the life-long Boston Red Sox fan. He would sign with the Yankees and spend the next three summers in their minor league system playing for the Staten Island Yankees, the Charleston (SC) River Dogs and the Tampa Yankees.  Released in 2013, his journey would continue in independent baseball with stops in South Dakota and Texas before making his way back to affiliated ball in 2015 when the Arizona Diamondbacks signed him to a minor league deal. The Rule 5 Draft in December of that year brought Brebbia to the St. Louis Cardinals organization where he would pitch in both AA and AAA before making his MLB debut in 2017. Spending parts of three years with the Cardinals, Brebbia pitched in the playoffs but was eventually nontendered after undergoing Tommy John surgery and missing all of 2020.  Signed by the Giants in the offseason, Brebbia would return to the majors in 2021 and sign back with the Giants for 2022. Brebbia shares his ups and downs with us including his MLB debut, what it was like pitching in the playoffs, coming back from the injury and using PitchCom.
