Self Denial – death to the sinful nature (self) – New ownership 2. Sowing and Reaping – sow to the flesh – reap corruption / sow to the Spirit – reap life 3. Surrender of my life to God (giving up of earthly ambitions to win Christ) In Genesis 32 - Jacob wrestles with God – God changes him Jacob’s character – supplanter, deceiver, “ taking the place and possessions of another” Jacob’s conduct – bargaining , orchestrating, deceit, grasping after things Jacob’s struggles – the heartaches of reaping what he sowed Jacob in crisis - surrender of his fears, his family, his future – all to God “ I will not let you go, except you bless me … Blessing with a limp What is your name ? Jacob ….your name shall no longer be called Jacob but Israel” STRUGGLED with God and with men …and have prevailed Self Denial Let him deny himself The surrender of ownership - no to self will as the ultimate authority over your life. Take up his cross and follow me - The cross is a symbol of death an execution Sowing and Reaping Seeds Your actions, your choices and your investments are seeds planted Core laws of the harvest – 1. You reap what you sow 2. You reap more than you sow 3. You reap later than you sow The 2 Fields 1. The field of the Flesh 2. The field the Spirit Surrender Let grow of control Present your life to God as a willing sacrifice Trusting in Him to meet your needs
