Johnny's Birthday

from BDJ's Cellar Full of Remixes · host BDJ

All Things Must Pass is a triple album by George Harrison, recorded and released in 1970, the first solo work from him since the break-up of The Beatles in April that year. Johnny's Birthday was recorded in August 1970 with Ringo Starr and presented to John Lennon on his 30th birthday. (Based upon “Congratulations” - Bill Martin/Phil Coulter, new lyrics by Mal Evans, Harrison, Eddie Klein). On the record, the tape speed is constantly varied, sresulting in shifting pitch and tempo (probaly to avoid infringing on the copyright of Congartulations). Heer we have painstakingly re-corrected the tape speed, to recreate the original song. Now you can actually hear Ringo sing !This track is also featured on Tuned to a Natural E 7.
