Jokerville Mine Disaster Memorialized This Past September

The Jokerville Mine exploded in 1884, killing 60 men inside the shaft, which was located about 1/4 mile from the center of Crested Butte. This past summer the Crested Butte Cemetery Committee put a lot of hard work in finally recognizing and laying these men to rest.
