Jolene

from Stefan Melnychenko · host Stefan Melnychenko

On a warm sunny morning in August I woke up feeling inspired from the day before: my friend Jeremy had reminded me of this beautiful song by Ray LaMontagne and it had been years since I had listened to it. This proved to be a benefit as in the early morning, with coffee up top the piano, I decided to record this song with little memory of the melody or arrangement. With nothing but the lyrics in front of me, I sat down at the piano and improvised what I thought was the general sound of the song. It ends up I totally didn't get the arrangement or the original feel right, instead making it much more bluesier both vocally and instrumentally. Being that this arrangement came from my soul I'm rather partial. I hope you like my version! Feedback is always encouraged.
