Joliet Police seek suspect in credit card skimmer incident

Joliet Police responded to El Ranchito Supermarket on East Cass Street at 2:24 p.m. on May 23, 2026 after being called to the store about a man who acted suspiciously. According to police, surveillance video shows the man remove something from his wallet while in a checkout lane and make contact with the credit card terminal before completing his transaction. A store employee confronted him and the man ran away. Officers could not locate the man, but police did recover the skimming device from the credit card machine. Police are now asking for the public's help to identify the man who was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, gray sweatpants, black shoes, and a tan hat.
