JONAH - Misguided PatriotismO how things go awry when one forgets the essence of who God is. It’s the essence that guides how we view God, how we view others, and how we view ourselves. While he may have been considered a Hebrew of Hebrews, Jonah’s love for God somehow shifted. The shift wasn’t sudden, rather, it occurred gradually over a number of months and years. It was a hard lesson for him to learn, but learn he did! We’ll let Jonah tell the rest of his story…SUMMER SERIES JESUS – CHAMPION OF FAITHOne of the aspects of the Bible that makes it truly striking is how all the writers do not ‘airbrush’ any person mentioned in Scripture…including Jesus. We get to see the good, the bad, and the ugly side of people - real people, just like us.But what the writers do make clear is that there is only one hero, and that is Jesus. In fact, whoever wrote the book of Hebrews ascribes to Jesus the title, champion. Our so-called ‘heroes of the Bible’ were not heroes at all, they were real people like us.
