Jonah says he fears God while sailing away from the task God gave him. His downward flight brings a storm, while pagan sailors pray, show mercy, and try to do what is right before God. Religious status cannot prove reverence; genuine fear of God joins trembling awe with obedience. Jesus alone delighted perfectly in His Father's will, even accepting the cross to save disobedient sinners.
