On February 26, Blair Schulman will be speaking with artist Jorge García Almodóvar Jorge’s work is driven by his belief in simplicity of expression.Through systematically stripping away non-essential elements, Garcia emphasizes the convergence of composition, form and color. His current series is inspired by thephysical context of the UMKC Gallery of Art. These site specific works synergize withthe space, creating a unique setting that challenges the viewer to experience this bodyof work “en bloc". Jorge García Almodóvar attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, and also studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He currently lives in Kansas City, MO, where he received the Charlotte Street Visual Art Award in 2008. His work has been exhibited in various galleries throughout the Kansas City area.
