Joseph Ari’el Towne
from The Official Concept · host Allan Campbell
Joseph Ari’el Towne’s new book, The Better Mindset (Istoria Studio, an imprint of Istoria Collective), arrives globally on 29 September, with a foreword by NBC Sports’ Yogi Roth. Season two of his podcast of the same name premieres this fall. The book gathers personal accounts from Towne’s own life and from the people he has coached. It rejects the idea that life’s purpose is to arrive at a finished “best self.” In its place it offers a more durable practice: becoming one percent better at what matters most, repeatedly, with joy as the means rather than the prize. The work shows readers how to move through psychological and emotional barriers so they can perform at their highest level in life and in their careers. Yogi Roth writes: “The Better Mindset made me a better human being. And it will do the same for you if you’re willing to go for it. Thankfully for all of us, Joseph was. He shares truths that can bring you to tears and, in the very next moment, put a smile on your face. Whether you’ve shined on a stage or been booed off it, his principles land. You’ll find yourself writing in the margins, screenshotting pages, sending passages to people you love and pausing, at times, to simply look in the mirror.” Actor Matthew Lillard (Scream) also endorses the book on its back cover. Towne’s central claim is simple and exacting: better is not a destination; it is a direction. Who we are becoming matters more than any single achievement. For more than three decades he has coached Olympic athletes, Emmy-winning creatives, Fortune 500 executives, NFL players moving into television and film, and on-air sports broadcasters. Drawing on his training in Feng Shui and spatial synergy, he also examines how environment shapes thought, performance, and well-being. Subjects he addresses include why better outperforms best, the one-percent principle, the four types of mind, using nerves as fuel, the giving state versus the getting state, planning to win versus playing not to lose, and human alchemy. Season two of The Better Mindset podcast extends those conversations with voices from sport, entertainment, film, television, and music. Earlier guests include Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Liza Katzer (Ted Lasso, Shrinking), and Yogi Roth. Towne’s own path as an actor and filmmaker includes Freedom Writers opposite Hilary Swank, Isn’t It Romantic with Rebel Wilson, and The Art of Christmas. He created and hosted SyFy’s Force of Nature, directed award-winning work in the United States and Europe, and served as on-set acting coach for The Client List and Significant Mother. His story and his method are the same invitation: keep moving toward better. Call to action. Secure The Better Mindset ahead of its 29 September global release. Follow season two of The Better Mindset podcast as it premieres this fall. Share the work with anyone who is ready to treat better as a direction rather than a destination.
