Josh Jacobs ARRESTED! Now What?

New episode of Packers: DERAILED, your in-depth Green Bay Packers breakdown from J.J. Lahey and Jake Schyvinck. Josh Jacobs was arrested and charged this week, creating a major football question for the Green Bay Packers as the legal process and NFL review begin. Jacobs has denied the allegations through his attorneys, and nothing is settled yet, but the Packers still have to prepare for every possible outcome. In this episode, J.J. and Jake break down the Josh Jacobs news, what the NFL personal conduct policy could mean, whether a suspension or release is actually possible, and how Brian Gutekunst should think about the running back room if Jacobs becomes unavailable. The Packers built their offense around Jacobs as a physical, tone-setting runner, so any extended absence would force Green Bay to take a hard look at Chris Brooks, MarShawn Lloyd, Pierre Strong Jr., Damien Martinez, and the rest of the depth chart. The guys also look at potential free agent running backs and trade candidates who could make sense for the Packers if they need to add another legitimate option before the season. Is there a veteran stopgap who fits Matt LaFleur’s offense? Would Green Bay need to make a bigger move? Or can the Packers survive with the backs already in the building? This is a serious, complicated situation, but from a football perspective, the Packers have to be ready. If Josh Jacobs is not available, Green Bay cannot afford to be caught flat-footed.
