Josh Kent founded SunFrogShirts.com in 2013, growing the company from lean startup to global leader as an online t-shirt platform with over 2 million designs yielding 1000% financial increase in the past year (2014-2015). Born leader, extreme sports enthusiast and serial entrepreneur, Josh has redefined the face of online marketing—bringing technology, workflow, social media and imaginative internal software together to create the perfect formula for success. Born and raised in a small town near SunFrog’s headquarters (Gaylord, MI) he taught himself to program and build websites and took a job with a small local computer firm shortly after graduating from high school. When the dot.com era exploded, his career path took him to Michigan’s sunset shores of Traverse City. There, he landed on the beach, quickly rising to manage the watersports rental company he worked for. Wanderlust soon took hold and he found himself in Florida, employed at a parasailing company. Again, t-shirts caught his imagination. Despite poor quality art and low end product, the Florida based company’s profit margins were amazing. This knowledge would follow him for years. Traveling back to his hometown, he met and married his wife Kristy in 2004 after opening his own computer company, Alpine Computers, in 2002. Alpine Computers quickly became a success fueling new business ventures: Alpine Websites (2005), Kent Properties (2005) and finally, the path led back full circle in 2009 with Funfix.com. As a small wholesale screen-printing company, catering to those with an active lifestyle, Kent saw the potential for Funfix.com to become the stepping stone for the international enterprise, SunFrogShirts. Once SunFrog hit its stride, Josh’s leadership qualities, technological precognition, love for the industry and contagiously energetic attitude, catapulted the company beyond all expectations. Kent now finds himself at the helm of an online giant that continues to grow consistently, expand exponentially and develop proactively. Today, Josh is an authority in both technological and business circles. He speaks regularly for groups and has been honored, most recently, as a Michigan Top 50 Business and Entrepreneur of the Year.
