Josh Tan: Export NZ Executive Director on the CPTPP and the UK's inclusion
from Holiday Breakfast · host Newstalk ZB
This weekend New Zealand is hosting the commission for the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (otherwise known as the CPTPP), hosting eleven countries with the UK due to join. The CPTPP was enacted at the end of 2018, and with the UK's inclusion the agreement will be expanded beyond the Pacific Centre. Export NZ Executive Director Josh Tan told Tim Dower that the CPTPP gives New Zealand exporters better access to new markets such as Mexico or Canada, where there are no agreements already in place. He says that the UK’s desire to join the CPTPP indicates that they want to engage with New Zealand economically, and that they’re willing to do it on our terms.
