JOURNALISM UNDER ATTACK? | Gordon Stables of USC Annenberg

Why would anyone choose to study journalism at a time when trust in the media is under pressure and the Trump administration has such a turbulent relationship with the press? In this episode of SOS America, Charles Feldman speaks with Gordon Stables from USC Annenberg about the importance of journalism education and the role the next generation of reporters can play in American democracy. They discuss what students can gain from studying journalism, how journalism schools are preparing young reporters for a rapidly changing media landscape, and why strong, independent reporting remains essential when journalists and political leaders are frequently at odds. The conversation also explores the challenges facing aspiring journalists, the impact of social media and misinformation, and why this could be one of the most important—and exciting—times to enter the profession. If you are considering a career in journalism, currently studying media or communications, or are concerned about the future of the free press in America, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss.Subscribe to SOS America for more interviews examining American politics, media, culture and the issues shaping the United States.#Journalism #DonaldTrump #USCAnnenberg #Media #FreedomOfThePress #JournalismEducation #SOSAmericaSupport the show
