Journey to the Blue Sky Episode 3: Ice Age: The Meltdown

from Old School Lane · host Old School Lane

In this episode of Journey to the Blue Sky, Arun and Patricia discuss about the 2006 Blue Sky Studios animated film Ice Age: The Meltdown, the second installment of the 2002 animated film Ice Age. Manny, Diego, and Sid live in a valley surrounded by a wall of ice living normal lives until an armadillo named Fast Tony warns everyone that the wall of ice is a dam and is cracking due to the ice melting. He offers to rescue everyone by taking them to a large log where they will be safe from the flooded water of the melted ice. While journeying to the log, Manny, Diego, and Sid meet up with a female mammoth named Ellie, who believes she's an opossum, and her two opossum brothers Crash and Eddie. They go through many obstacles such as vultures, two meat eating sea beasts, and Manny and Ellie trying to fall in love. When the film premiered in theaters, it made over $660 million dollars out of a $80 million dollar budget and received mixed reviews. What did Arun and Patricia think of the follow up to a film they liked? Was it an improvement to the first film or will it continue the path of mediocrity? Listen and find out.
