Joy in the Gospel Ministry

from Christ Community Church of Pembroke Pines · host Christ Community Church

The Christian’s Joy                                     “Joy in the Gospel Ministry”                                                             Phil. 1:12-18   Joy Despite Persecution (vv. 12-14)   Acts 28:30-31 30 He lived there two whole years at his own expense,[a] and welcomed all who came to him, 31 proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.   2 Tim.1:7-9a,12 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, 9 who saved us and called us to a holy calling.. 12 which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.   Gen. 50:20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. The nation of Israel was born out of his suffering. We could talk about Daniel in his persecution. Peter and John after Pentecost are preaching the gospel in Jerusalem, Christ resurrected, crowds are gathering, people getting saved, the Sanhedrin’s upset..   Acts 4:3-4 3 And they arrested them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. 4 But many of those who had heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.   Joy Despite Opposition (vv. 15-18)   1 Cor. 3:4-10 4 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely human? 5 What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. 9 For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building. 10 According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled[b] master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it.
