Pursuing the Joy Found in Jesus

Real joy is not found in comfort, possessions, or success. It is found in pursuing Jesus. In this message from Matthew 2, Pastor Chris Teien examines the example of the wise men and shows how following Christ with faith, courage, and wholehearted worship leads to lasting joy.The Magi left behind comfort and certainty to seek the Savior. Their journey reminds us that true joy is rooted in God's presence, God's promises, and God's purposes. As we take steps of faith, overcome fear, follow God's direction, and offer Him our best, we experience the joy only Christ can give.In This Message: 1. Take the First Step Toward JesusThe wise men responded to the light God had given them and began a journey of faith. God often reveals His will one step at a time, calling us to trust Him before we know every detail. (Matthew 2:1-2; James 4:8; Isaiah 55:6)2. Don't Let Fear or Comfort Keep You from ChristKing Herod resisted Jesus because of fear, while the religious leaders remained spiritually comfortable. In contrast, the Magi pursued Christ despite uncertainty and inconvenience. (Matthew 2:3-8; Matthew 16:24)3. Follow the Light God Gives YouAs the Magi continued to obey, God faithfully directed their path. Believers experience God's guidance as they remain faithful to His Word and obedient to what He has already revealed. (Matthew 2:9-10; Psalm 119:105; James 1:22)4. Offer Jesus Your BestThe wise men responded with worship and generous gifts because they recognized Jesus as King. Genuine worship places Christ first and gladly offers Him our time, talents, treasures, and devotion. (Matthew 2:11-12; Romans 12:1)TakeawayJoy is worth pursuing because Jesus is worth following. Take the next step of faith, trust God's leading, and give Him your very best as you discover the lasting joy found only in Christ.Illustrations• The Magi's long journey demonstrates that lasting joy often requires faith, perseverance, and a willingness to leave our comfort behind.• Abraham's journey to an unknown land illustrates how God calls His people to trust Him before they know every detail of the path ahead.• Hiking before sunrise with only a flashlight illustrates how God often reveals just enough light for the next faithful step.Key Quotes"Joy is rooted in God's presence, God's promises, and God's purposes.""Don't let fear or comfort keep you from following Jesus.""The greatest joy is found in pursuing Christ."Search TopicsMatthew 2, wise men, Magi, Christmas, joy, following Jesus, worship, faith, Christian living, Pastor Chris TeienFull Episode & Transcript:https://www.buzzsprout.com/2285086/episodes/1839551925.1222der Joy Worth Pursuing Helping you apply God's Word and follow Jesus in everyday life.
