In the 3rd installment of our Jackson State Black History Celebration series, we speak with JSU alumnus & historian, Joe Straughter, who is also the father of our VP & Director of Athletics, Ashley Robinson. He details his time as a student on campus with the likes of Walter Payton and a number of other greats & future pros across multiple sports, as well as his close relationships with legendary coaches W.C. Gorden and Paul Covington. He also talks about some of the characteristics he saw in his son at an early age that have carried over to his current position, and the important role that the current generation plays in moving the university forward.
