Jude the Obscure Part 3 Chapter 8

In which Jude finds himself haunted by the absence of a certain beloved, and in the midst of his mourning, encounters the estranged Arabella, whose unexpected presence unsettles his sombre reflections and plans. The city and its familiar haunts appear transformed and alien as he contemplates offers of work, family obligations, and the complicated ties that bind him to the women of his past.
