Judge Throws Out Prop 8

Passed in 2008, Proposition 8 declared that marriage could only occur between a man and a woman. Now a federal court says Prop 8 violates the equal protection clause of the federal constitution. Prop 8 supporters have already asked the judge to stay his ruling so they can appeal, a process that could take years and go all the way to the US Supreme Court.
