Abimelech builds his kingdom through murder, bought loyalty and fear, while justice seems absent for three years. Yet God turns his pride and Shechem's treachery against them, bringing Jotham's warning to its crushing end. When wicked people prosper, Psalm 73 directs slipping hearts back to worship, where God becomes their strength and lasting portion.
