Judges Series- Jotham

Send us Fan Mail What if you could unearth the intriguing origins of dentistry, delve into the world of Australia's first ever documented film, and uncover the dramatic biblical story of Gideon, all in one sitting? Today, we share our personal, sometimes hilarious, encounters with dentistry, inspired by our beloved dentist, Dr Mary Day. We also venture into the natural world, sharing tales of family encounters with possums. The heart of our episode, however, is the study of Gideon and his son, Abimelech, providing insights into the pitfalls of idolatry and the love of money. Imagine being the youngest son of Gideon and escaping your other brothers' executions. That's the captivating story of Jotham and his ominous warning to the people of Shechem, who made Abimelech their king. His parable about the trees going forth to anoint the king casts a meaningful reflection on modern leadership. Fast forward to Abimelech, who embarks on a brutal battle. His actions provokes a discussion about the destructive consequences of corrupt leadership and the violence it breeds. Our exploration of this biblical narrative is an invitation to reflect on the transformative power of God, turning our mess into a message for His glory. Above all, we remind you that even in the face of adversity, there's hope in Jesus Christ, the ultimate source of justice and mercy. So, join us on this enlightening journey, immersing yourself in riveting narratives and thought-provoking discussions.
